Dry Heat
Drink our words ...
The Online Literary Magazine of Paradise Valley Community College

by Sara Neves Pereira

Undress me
Take away all the weight of judgement
And let me lay my tired head
On your lap

Together in a silence
That holds the secrets of our universes
And is richer than any words or poetic sentences
We watch the true riches of this life
Collide and melt into distant children's laughs

Lead me to that simple life again
Where less is more
And more is a burden
We don't care to carry

Where the word freedom
Becomes and overwhelming feeling
Of peace and mindfulness
And to draw a breath is not
A calculated move

Undress me
Of all my fears
And open my arms
To welcome life again
